Do you LOVE them or HATE them? Can we just talk about Madison's lashes? I've spent the last season of the bachelor OBSESSED with how BAD I think her lashes look. They seriously drove me crazy as a lash artist. I didn't love Hannah N.'s lashes either... am I just entirely too picky?

It breaks my heart when we have new clients come in for a removal of extensions like this. I didn’t dare ask where she got these done, but where ever it was, I hope she never goes back. These lashes are temporary pre-made fans that were never meant to be attached using semi-permanent adhesive. I wasn’t even able to separate them with gel remover. In this case I had to take care to pull the natural lashes free using tweezers one by one.
Typically when we remove lash extensions, they glide off easily with gel remover and volume fans quickly break apart into the individual .05-.o7mm extensions. It is quick and painless. This was a bit of a disaster. You can see the natural lashes that were still embedded in the giant cluster of extensions. This client was committed to using a growth serum for a few weeks to regrow her lashes before doing anything else to them. That is what we would have recommended after this kind of trauma to your lashes. When people tell you extensions damage your natural lashes, THIS is what they are likely talking about. THIS Is NOT normal. Professionally applied extensions that are applied correctly WILL NOT damage your natural lashes. They are light and flexible and you should hardly notice them when they are on. Any pulling or itching you experience are signs of lash damage. If you have any of these symptoms, have your extensions removed asap.

Oh NO She Didn't!OH DEAR!
I just came across this article in Allure online and it makes me so sad! This woman has an instagram page and confessed that she uses semi permanent glue to attach cluster lashes to her own lashes herself! EEP! Her poor natural lashes are being ruined under all that glue and even worse. I am forced to believe that there are others doing this after seeing this post. If you want long, thick lashes, PLEASE come see us at Salt City Lashes or if you're not around Salt Lake City, Utah, find some other professional to help you achieve the look you want. DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME!

Lash Opportunities others, The first time I got lash extensions I was volunteering to be a model for my then sister-in-law who had just completed a training course. It only took me a few minutes of talking with her before I decided that the lash industry was where I needed to be. The income potential and possibilities were obvious to me. That was over 7 years ago and I now have a successful lash business in Salt Lake City, Utah. When I sought out to train and grow my business, my focus was always to help other women succeed. When I train others, I want to teach women how to take hold of their future and be successful in a well-paying career. I read this article on Minnesota Public Radio News and it hit close to home for me. Just like the minority business owner in this story, I too learned how to do lashes before realizing I needed an esthetics license to provide the service. I felt very discouraged (and lied to by the company that trained me) after spending over $1200 to learn a skill I could not use to earn money. I was fortunate enough to get a job working at a lash studio that offered esthetics apprenticeships. I earned my license while I worked and I am not sure I would have been able to get to where I am any other way.
I really hope the state of Minnesota can help this and other small business owners out by offering a lesser license for those interested in just offering lash extensions. It is a lucrative industry that is going to keep growing and provides a good living to women. I am single-mom of 4 and I run my business part-time and employ 3 other women. There are few other industries that create this type of opportunity for women and I hate to see the barriers to entry increase beyond a reasonable measure. A few days ago, the website Byrdie posted an article entitled "The Best (and Worst) Makeup for Eyelash Extensions"
In their article, they list a lot of great tips for getting the look you want without ruining your lashes as well as some helpful links to products for purchase. I am a big fan of eyeliner and I didn't even know that an eyeliner pen was a thing! I myself use a soft pencil, but am careful to avoid the lash line so as to not get gunk in my lash extensions. I sometimes use powder, but I just can't say no to a thick and bold cat eye. What looks do you love with your extensions? |
